
About Us
We are a member club of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (“AMA” club number 0710) and are part of the AMA’s District 4. You must be a member of the AMA to fly at our facility and all guests/visitors who want to fly must be accompanied by a member. Non-flying spectators are always welcome!
Location
The Charlotte Aeromodelers Club operates from CAM Field, which is located in Union County, 1.75 miles north of the intersection of HWYs 218 and 200, 14 miles east of I-485 Exit 44. After turning into the driveway at the address below, bear left and follow the gravel road.

Facility
- We are an FAA designated FRIA
- Professionally graded 700′ x 100′ Bermuda grass runway that gets cut twice per week during the grass growing season so any type of aircraft can be flown (including Turbines)
- Extremely large flying area unobstructed by any nearby trees, houses, power lines, etc.
- 125′ x 24′ covered shelter
- Climate controlled clubhouse with a bathroom, shower, and full kitchen (coming soon)
- On-site weather Station showing real-time wind and temperature
- Wifi
- 120v outlets in the shelter and spanning the entire flightline for charging, etc. (coming soon)
- Plentiful spaces on the flightline to accommodate trailers and smaller campers
- 100′ x 15′ wide, flat parking spaces near the flighline to accommodate RVs and longer campers
- 3 acre Pond for float flying and RC boats
